Well, seeings as it is November AGAIN! ....

I am on Facebook, but only friend people whom I either know directly...

...or who are friends with one of a number of people I follow.  It is just that I am a little paranoid there.

And that is why I do not post here often.  My Apologies.

This time, I have a list of Youtube channels that I like to go watch.

I merely offer them as suggestions.  There are also some Twitter and Facebook folks in the list.

They are all worth your while exploring.  Go take a peek!

In the meantime... take care.

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Well, it is now November of  2012 , so time for another update!
My vertical spacing is acting weird so read down to "The End"

I tweet at:

@PeteLaberge

A lot is Re-Tweeting stuff I found that I liked.  A lot is favourite quotes, and cartoons.
NB:  I use Canadian/British Spelling a lot, hence Colour and Favour.

Here are some people you should look into:

I start with a lot of detailon just two people, but please read on through as there there are a number of links to other people down below:

The History Teachers.     Amy V Burvall & Herb Mahelona
 HONOLULU, Hawaii, USA
(Way down below, is a summary of some of Amy Burvall's most VIP kinks.)

Yes, folks, The Teacherz are Good & Legitimate.  They're real teachers, teaching real stuff.  (Well sorta.)   Their music & videos are very good.

Even if you're not a high school student, you can learn from them.  College & University students use their videos.  Fellow teachers & professors have praised them.  Grade school students use the videos, too. Adults, long done with their educations have enjoyed them & learned from them!  Their Youtube site has over 23,000 subscribers.  One video, French revolution, based on Lady Gaga,  has over 1,061,600 views.  My personal favourite is the Story of Beowulf....

Their music is listened to in Russia.  Their songs (especially Revolution) have been translated into many languages, (6 or 8, I think) even Chinese!  Their music has traversed the Chinese Internet Firewall, and is being listened to in China.

You don't find that happening every day!  This means there is work, talent, beauty, professionalism, entertainment, and educational value in them.  There is also something else:  Pure listening & viewing pleasure, and joi de vivre!

To see all 52 awesome history videos, go here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/historyteachers/videos

Their Official TEDX Hawaii Presentation, Nov 2011:
(This will awe you, and make you laugh, and cry, and think.)

The Creativity Salon Interview  (With the late great Neil Tepper)
Ignore the first 1.5 mins, as it is some sort of commercial:

Here is one young lady who was inspired by them to make her own videos:
Gads, she has too much talent.

Here is a good math/science link (Mr.Edmonds), not related, either), is here:

Then, there is Dan Rojas at Green Power Science on YouTube
(Kids, do NOT try this stuff at home, ok!)

And if you are into farming...  This guy has some fascinating stuff....
http://www.youtube.com/user/onelonleyfarmer/videos

Also, if all you want is Amy Burvall's Voice Blowing your Mind Away, sans Video:
You MUST listen to:
"Dream a Little Dream" and "If You go Away", which prove that this insane woman is wasting her time trying to "teach".  She can sing real songs, not just her parodies.  Her voice is.....   Well....   "Awesome"  is simply too small a word.   If "Awesome" was  a mere Nuclear explosion, the word to describe her voice would require a supernova....

Again, wild stuff.  A lot of it is educational related. BUT NOT ALL!  (I must comment:  Look, she has a number of weird pet theories, so you have to put up with that, to get the good stuff.  Just ignore her crazy stuff.  The good stuff is WELL worth it.)

Update Aug 2011

Well, I am still alive. Still taking care of me, my cat, and a number of seniors. I'm Pierre, and Sweedie is the cat. Like all cats, he thinks he is in charge. Acts like he is, anyway.

I'd post more often, but by the time I do my email, and check out You Tube, there is not much time left. I spend way too much time on You Tube.

My favourites there, tend to people who can teach me something:

HistoryTeachers
The ABSOLUTE BEST video, singing, dancing, and learning on the web, bar none. Great songs, Great music, and LOTS of learning about history, culture, and humanity. Way too much talent here. (I will say more later!) They might be listed first for a reason!

onelonleyfarmer
A farmer in New Jersey who puts out the most incredible videos. He is cataloging everyday life on the modern farm. One heck of a hard working guy. And a great guy at doing fixit stuff. He's had some bad luck as of late, but he has a phenomenal sense of humor. Good luck to him!

siankummer
She and her friends (and brother) are the cutest, and niftiest Ukulele players on the web. From Australia, no less! Great music, and singing. She did 50 videos in a year! I've seen about half, and liked most of what I saw. She has a very varied taste in music.

simonandmartina
Two Canadians "stuck" in South Korea! They moved there to teach, and now do other work, but their blog "eatyourkimchee" is phenomenal. If you are down, and need something to kill depression, go here. They show you nifty Korean products you never dreamt could exist. Their commentary is wild. PLUS they have the cutest dog: Spudgy!!!! The "Spudgemeister" makes guest appearances!

cjhoylemusic
Another source of some interesting home made music videos. Do NOT miss "One Tin Soldier" which he did over the web with Sian Kummer!!! This guy is a pro musician.

HouseholdHacker
All kinds of tech tips. Some are tongue in cheek, I think (like the school cheating hacks)... But the Flower Pot Fridge is awesome... Something for everyone.

dsecms
A singing math/science teacher. Who'd a thought? But this guy is good! And, he involves his students from time to time. Hope to see more from him.

GREENPOWERSCIENCE
Dan and Denise teach you stuff about nifty ideas every day, from Water Solar Lenses, to Solar Cells, to whatever! Enough to inspire.

kipkay
A lot of cute videos about "mods" (lots of electronics, but lots of other stuff) you can make to everyday stuff. Some are a bit on the joke side, but educational and fascinating, none-the-less.

Stevespanglerscience
All kinds of neat little science demos. All are short, educational, fun, and have good humor. If you are a parent of a young child, and want to teach that child stuff, go here.

makemagazine These people are legit and professional. They even have their own real magazine. All kinds of interesting (generally electronic) projects you could make.

sxephil This is the Philip DeFranco You Tube site. A daily 5 or 6 minute comment on events in the world. Very professional. I regret not having the time to watch more of his stuff. Good commentary, humor, educational stuff, and wit. You have to go see! Listed last? Yes. But not least! (I think Phil would like that sort of non-sequiteur!)

I follow some others, but enough for now. I will try get back to comment later. Meanwhile: Peace, Good Luck, and enjoy!

Friday, October 30, 2009

Well, happy Halloween to any readers.

I have not been posting, because with a half a dozen seniors that I take care of, they keep me rather busy!

In cany case, While I can gabulate on Cagle or other sites about comments and events, I seem to be struck dumb when it come to my own postings.

Then too, my cat, Sweedie keeps me rather busy. The excuse that there is a blog named after him cuts me little slack, as he has trained me well to spoil him terribly...
Rubs, massages, brushings, playing, loving, feeding, walks (he walks me, no one can walk a cat) and litter box maintenance tend to fill up my day.
Oh, well, he is well cared for, and know it. Then too, he knows he cares for me very well, as well.
